Pre-loved sports kit campaign in partnership with Loopeto

Every year, an estimated 454 tonnes of sports kit ends up in landfill, generating the equivalent of 32,400 tonnes of CO₂ – comparable to the carbon footprint of 32,400 London buses. At the same time, many families face financial barriers when it comes to buying the kit needed to take part in sport. Replay is here to address both challenges.

Through a partnership with Loopeto, a sustainable reuse platform supporting national governing bodies, sports clubs, community groups, and individuals, Activate West Wales is helping to create a circular sports economy across the region. Replay makes it easy for people to donate, sell, or buy pre‑loved sports kit, keeping equipment in use for longer and out of landfill.

National Governing Bodies, sports clubs, and individuals across West Wales are invited to pledge their support by setting up a store on the Loopeto platform and encouraging members to pass on kit they no longer need rather than throwing it away.

Together, through Replay, we can give sports kit a second life – and help more people get active, for less cost, and with less environmental impact.

“We’re committed to building an active West Wales, where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy sport. Replay supports that vision by encouraging reuse, repair and recycling, tackling the stigma around second‑hand kit, reducing waste, and cutting the carbon impact of sport. This campaign is about creating a more inclusive and sustainable sporting community across the region.”

Replay: Keeping kit in play for longer

Activate West Wales is proud to launch Replay - a campaign to transform how we think about sports kit across our region.

The challenge

Every year, tonnes of quality sports kit and equipment ends up in landfill whilst families struggle with the cost of getting and themselves active.

The solution

We’re partnering with Loopeto, a sustainable reuse platform, to make it simple for our sporting communities to give kit a second life.

Through Replay, we’re creating a circular sports economy right here in West Wales – where kit moves from players who’ve outgrown it to those who need it next.

By embracing reuse, repair, and recycling, we’re tackling the stigma around secondhand gear, cutting waste, and slashing the carbon impact of sport kit.

Loopeto

Activate West Wales has partnered with Loopeto, a sustainable reuse platform for individuals, sports organisations and community groups.

As a club

Once you pledge your support Loopeto will set up a ‘shop’. You can then upload any unwanted sports kits or equipment.

Your members

They can individually upload items and link them to your club. Loopeto is free to use and most transactions will take place peer-to-peer once a sale has been agreed. However, there is an option to pay for postage if the buyer is not within travelling distance.

There is a ‘How To Guide’ that clearly walks through how to upload items onto the website. The link to this page can be shared with your members.
