Activate West Wales helps connect people working to get more people active. We don’t run funding programmes ourselves, but we help organisations and grass‑roots clubs find the right funding, people and support.
There is funding available across West Wales for physical activity, sport and wellbeing, but it can be hard to know where to look or what’s right for you. A we develop, we aim to make this easier by bringing useful information into one place.
By sharing what’s available and helping people connect, we can help funding reach communities that need it most and support more people to be active across West Wales.

Barclays Community Sport Fund
Sport opens doors to skills that last a lifetime. That’s why Barclays is giving grants to community sports groups who need it most.
In partnership with Sported, the Barclays Community Sport Fund offers grants, bespoke support, and exclusive ticketing opportunities to make football, tennis, and cricket more accessible to women and girls in communities across the UK*.
The Barclays Community Sport Fund is open for applications from Wednesday 25 March 2026 until Wednesday 27th May 2026.

Bernard Sunley Foundation (small grants)
One-off capital grants are available to registered charities in England and Wales, as well as those with ‘accepted’ and ‘exempt’ status, for projects in the areas of community, education, health and social welfare.

Coalfields Cymru Kit Grant
Grants are available to community sports clubs in Welsh coalfield communities to support the purchase of youth team kits.

Grants are available for community and voluntary organisations that can demonstrate how funding will impact positively on people living in the former coalfield communities of Wales.

Masonic Charitable Foundation – Children and Young People Grants Programme (under and over £10,000)
Grants for charities in England and Wales for projects that support disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people aged up to 18 years (up to 25 years for disabled young people) to overcome the barriers they face in order to achieve the best possible start in life.

Medium and large grants are available to community organisations in Wales for capital and revenue for projects where people and communities are working together and using their strengths to make positive impacts on the things that matter to them the most.

Persimmon Community Champions
One-off grants are available for local community organisations and charities for local community initiatives across England, Scotland and Wales in communities where Persimmon has a presence.

Tesco Stronger starts
Tesco Stronger Starts is open to all schools, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations that support children and young people to apply for a grant of up to £1,500. Every three months, three local good causes are selected to be in the blue token customer vote in Tesco stores throughout the UK.

Warburtons Families Matter Community Grants Programme
Small grants are available for local projects, activities and organisations that have charitable aims and that will be of real direct benefit to families in England, Scotland and Wales.

Welsh Water Community Fund
Grants are available to voluntary and community organisations working in the Welsh Water service area to support projects that provide benefits to local communities.

Wales Community Asset Loan Fund (CALF)
Loans are available to community groups including charities, social enterprises and CICs in Wales that are seeking to bring property into community ownership. Additionally, small grants are available to support purchasing organisations with the sustainable management of their property.
Amount: Loans up to £300,000 are available. CALF can fund up to 100% of the property value.
